Located on the coast of South Carolina , Folly
Island is south of the entrance to Charleston Harbour. This site has been a banding station on an off since the early ninties. I have been running banding here since 2007 with permission from Charleston County Parks and Recreation Committee.
The island itself runs in a NE to SW direction, the locals refer to it as the east end, but I refer to it as the north end as this is the most northerly part of the island that south-migrating birds encounter. The land was a Coast Guard Station but is now owned Charleston County Parks and Recreation Committee and have named it the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve.

In an effort to preserve the
historical and natural histories of the site the general public are
only allowed access to the hard-top road as access to the dunes and
the views of Morris Island lighthouse beyond.
I operate this site as part of the Cape Romain Bird Observatory
